About Me

Miha Momoiu, MSc, MUKCP Counselling and Psychotherapy in Hackney, East London and Brighton

I am originally from Romania and moved to the UK over 10 years ago, driven by a deep interest in diversity and multiculturalism. This has shaped my way of working with clients from various cultural backgrounds, religious beliefs, and gender identities.

My connection to the Person-Centred Approach stems from a positive experience I had in personal therapy during my early 20s, when I was seeking direction in life. At that time, I felt truly heard, accepted, and met with empathy by my therapist, which allowed me to explore challenging experiences and discover my own solutions.

My Psychotherapy Qualifications

I have an MSc in Contemporary Person-Centred Psychotherapy and Applications from the renowned Metanoia Institute in West London.

I am a fully registered and accredited member of the UKCP (UK Council for Psychotherapy) and adhere to their Code of Ethics.

All counsellors and therapists are required to have regular supervision to ensure they maintain the best level of care. While I may discuss specific clients with my supervisor, I protect their anonymity by withholding names and any other identifying details.

My Counselling Experience

I have experience working with both individuals and couples on a variety of issues (anxiety, stress, relationship issues, trauma, communication, bereavement, abuse and more).

I have experience working with clients of different cultural and ethnic backgrounds, religions, sexual orientations, gender identities, neurodiversity, life stages, relationship and family structures.

I have a special interest in counselling women on a variety of issues. These issues encompass:

  • mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression, stress, and trauma;
  • relationship issues,
  • bereavement,
  • the experience of childlessness,
  • neurodivergence,
  • body image and disordered eating, self-esteem,
  • Sexuality and intimacy
  • the experience of childlessness
  • life changes, and more

I have particular experience working with clients who experienced abusive relationships. These are described by: controlling behaviour, physical violence, threats, intimidation, jealousy, humiliation, criticism, isolation from friends and family and more.

All of these can leave one experiencing shame, fear, self-blame, guilt, low mood, nightmares, low self-esteem, guilt, sleep problems, tension, concentration difficulties, changes in appetite, negative thoughts, using alcohol or drugs to cope.

In therapy, you have a safe place to talk about and understand your feelings without being judged or hurt, to have your feelings validated, to improve self-esteem, to find your inner strength and personal power and to understand how abuse happens.

Social Media

I do not accept friend or contact requests from current or former clients on any social networking site in order to protect your confidentiality and to keep the boundaries of our therapeutic relationship.
