Rogers revolutionised the field of psychotherapy by emphasising the importance of the therapeutic relationship and the inherent capacity for growth within individuals.
The person-centred approach is a non-judgmental way of therapy that believes in your inherent capacity to heal, grow, and make positive changes in your life. It focuses on creating an accepting environment where you can explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences freely. In this therapeutic relationship, your therapist becomes your ally, supporting you as you navigate through life’s ups and downs, guiding you towards healing, growth, and a greater sense of well-being.
Unlike directive therapies, the person-centred approach does not involve the therapist giving advice or leading the conversation. Instead, the therapist provides a supportive and non-directive space, allowing clients to explore their thoughts and emotions at their own pace. This fosters self-awareness, empowerment, and personal growth, as clients develop their realisations and solutions. The focus is on the individual’s subjective experience, promoting a strong sense of autonomy and self-acceptance.
I believe everyone has their own answers and ways of healing because our experiences are unique. I place great importance on experiencing and communicating genuine empathy, creating a safe and healing environment to foster self-awareness, personal growth and empowerment. I will support you to feel better about yourself, stronger and to find your own solutions.
